In a Reservation style vDC, costs are static. The only time you should see a change in your invoice total is if changes are made to your contract, through your Account Manager. However, iland's Console provides some easy tools for viewing and displaying this information, and for tracking any changes in cost over time as you environment grows.
The Billing Summary Widget Allows for a very quick, graphical overview of the following information:
The chart in the bottom half of the widget allows you to break down the Current Month total down even further by displaying cost on a per resource basis for CPU, RAM and Storage for the month. This breakdown can be exported at any time, in .png format, using the snapshot button on the graph. This button will allow you to download the graphic as you are currently viewing it, on the fly, to include as needed in any reports or records. Again, since there is no hourly cost associated with a reservation vDC, the hourly breakdown should show zeroes.
Since billing totals in a Reservation vDC are calculated based directly on the amounts agreed to in the contract, these totals displayed should match your contract exactly. Keep in mind, however, that totals displayed at the vDC level do not include bandwidth, or any other line-items such as licensing. It simply reflects the numbers based on the Contract totals for CPU, RAM, and Storage, before any discounts are applied. To see the full picture, including the line-item information, you will need to visit the Organization Level Billing Tab, where you can view the information in our graphs and charts, or download the Detailed Billing Report.
This table shows a quick overview of the amount of each resource in your contract, and the cost you pay in total, for each resource. As with the billing summary above, Bandwidth and line-item costs are not included at the vDC level, since they are tied to the Organization.
Unlike the Billing Summary Widget, the Resource Overview is completely customizable, and can be used to view historical contract data as well. Simply select the invoice period from the drop-down menu and the table will update to show the reservation and the cost from that time. Additionally, you can re-arrange the data in the table by dragging the columns, or sorting by any available column. Clicking on the "Columns" Button will allow you to filter the columns currently showing, so you can add or remove columns as needed. Finally, you can export the table data into a CSV by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner. The export will include any customizations you have made to the display thus far.
This table provides a breakdown of the Storage Reservations and Costs for the Storage Profile(s) associated with your Virtual Datacenter (vDC) for the current Invoice Period.
iland offers multiple types of storage, so that you can find the mix that suits your cloud best. Each type of storage available in your vDC (Archive, Advanced, SSD, etc.) has an associated Storage Profile. This breakdown allows you to see how much of each type you have reserved, and the associated costs, on a per-profile basis.
The vDC Level Billing Tab includes Performance Charts that show usage data, by invoice period, for each of the contracted resources. These charts show exactly what is being used, and when, so that you can verify the actual amount of each resource needed or utilized across your vDC. This allows you to gauge trends in your environment, and to predict if you will need to update your resources in the future, by showing you how close you are to a resource cap.
These performance charts can be exported into either .csv format or as images in .png format by using the download or camera button above the graph. By default, the information displayed is shown by the current invoice period, though you can view historical data by selecting a different timeframe from the drop-down.
